M. Z. Thwaite is the author of Tidewater Rip and Tidewater Hit, the
first two novels in her Tidewater Series. Her short story Flight was chosen by
the South Carolina Writers’ Workshop for publication in The Petigru Review 2015
Volume 9. She was presented Best Manuscript Submission by the Atlanta Writers
Club at the Atlanta Writers Conference November, 2013.
In her first series, she shares her life-long love of Georgia’s golden coast
where she enjoys the simple pleasures of the hunting and fishing club co-founded
by her maternal-grandfather. Born and raised in Georgia, she graduated from The
University of Georgia.
Following moves to Chicago, Illinois, and Seattle, Washington, she settled in
Atlanta where she sold real estate from 1983 until 2000 when she moved to New
Jersey and continued her real estate career. Upon moving with her husband to
Beaufort, South Carolina, in 2006, she again attained a sales license though now
she only uses that bit of her history in a story telling sense.
A review of this author would be incomplete without at least some mention of her
passion for the sport of rowing. Having grown up as a horse lover and owner, she
replaced the horse with a shell and has been a serious competitor since 1983.
She coached the crew team at Savannah Country Day School for three years and now
offers private lessons in Beaufort, South Carolina.
